Back to School
On August 8th, the CARE Complex facility was filled with laughter, excitement, and community spirit as 95 parents and their 269 children joined us for our annual Back to School Event. Focused on supporting families from lower-income households, the day offered more than just back-to-school prep.
It gave children the chance to step into the new school year with fresh haircuts, new clothes, and shoes that made them feel confident and proud. Our attendees reflected the rich diversity of our community, with families identifying as Black/African American, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, White/Caucasian, and others. Whether from smaller households with three or fewer children (72 families) or larger families raising more than three children (23 families), every parent, employed or seeking work, was met with warmth and encouragement.
Thanks to the generous donors who made this possible, the support of several partner organizations, and our dedicated volunteers, the event left every child walking out with a smile, a bounce in their step, and the confidence to shine in the year ahead.
